its not really the trucks you have to worry about, its the damn harleys. Either going dangerously slow (like holding up local yokels in pickup trucks slow) or being unable to make it around turns without scraping pegs so they swing out wide dangerously. Plus the cops for sure on the weekend midday.

But other roads in the area are 100% worth it alone for the trip. None of the drama but all of the same thrills and even better scenery. You should still do the dragon at an off time (early or late on the weekend, any time weekdays) since it is special, but its not the only reason to go there by far .

Is someone really going to go and try to figure out the math of what speed you are going based on framerate and known sized objects moving by as time passes? Without a speedo showing, you should be fine in that case. And ideally converted to 30fps if you really want to make that difficult to discern.

Have fun! I am going to a wedding in October in Raleigh and am trying to wiggle in some time to make a run out to Deal’s Gap. Found a Fiat 500 Abarth on Turo that should be pretty fun there! That is probably the only place on the East Coast that I miss.

Oh damn on the Harley riders. I live in Asheville, so I know there are plenty of good roads around me and that’s why I haven’t really seen a reason to bother with the most famous of them lol. Plus u ntil I have an actual daily, I won’t go overly hard on the Miata anyways

Oh shit you can just day trip there! Its definitely worth going to. Just dont go on a Saturday in the summer and it will always be worth it. While yeah you have some great roads nearby, there is something special about the dragon and some of the other select roads around there.

I’ll be racing @ Nelson Ledges in OH the weekend before that - It’s an endurance round as well. If you have a race license and all of your shots are up to date, I’m looking for people to run the endurance part....

no racing permit. that is an expensive hobby I really do not want part in. not that I wouldnt enjoy it, but god dam I ALREADY spend too much on bikes as it is.

I’m heavily considering it even though there’s a sweet autocross at a Michelin test site that Saturday. I’m trying to convince my autocross rival to join me and Jordan at the Dragon so either of us get an advantage in the championship.

Edit: he said yes, he’s coming. So, see you in September!

if you have the right tires and you get them PROPERLY wet and let the road get soaked and all the crap washed off, you’d be AMAZED at how much grip you have.
